Expertly taught the art of industrial spray painting by his father in law, John Busija, Tomo Steler established ‘A Feature Coating,’ or AFC as it’s known in the industry in 1982 after realising that he could apply industrial finishing to the architectural market.
Tomo’s ‘Imperite finish’ or ‘Imperite kitchen’ soared in popularity within the architectural and building industries, Imperite being a Jotun product that Tomo was using at the time. AFC successfully brought these finishes to a wide range of markets, before investing in automation which revolutionised his business, bringing mass volume to the architectural finishing market.
Sasha, the son of Tomo, purchased the company to further specialise and utilise the automated equipment and now provides a coating application mecca for building product manufacturers the likes of James Hardie, Alpine MDF, Laminex, and Timberlink.
